Luke had just gotten off the plane. Well, he had enough time to check into a hotel, just for a while. Or at least that’s what he told himself. He refused to fight for her this time. If she as available for him, then he would stick around, I which case she would probably let him crash on the couch. If she was with him still, then Luke would leave. He couldn’t ever imagine having Kaci, then figuring out she loved another, enough to leave with him. Of course, that was just him being hopeful, maybe she didn’t care for him anymore. Maybe she was married. He bit his lip, hoping she wasn‘t. He hoped she still loved him. He looked around the motel room. It held her helmet for his motorcycle, which he shipped here. Then it had one lonely suitcase of his normal clothes, t-shirts in various colors, meaning white and black, and jeans. He of course had his motorcycle jacket as well, but that was already on him.
He stepped out, walking down three flights of stairs, pacing more and more. He held both helmets in hand, and was practically jogging by the time he was out. She put the helmet on quickly, putting her helmet safely in a helmet strap, securing it so it wouldn’t fall on the way. He had already memorized the address on the plane flight over. The 3325 miles it took seems to take forever, but now he would waste no time. He cranked the key in the red and black sports bike and took off, to his destination. Though the streets were different, he refused to drive slowly, even if the differences confused him. In about ten minutes, he stopped at a nice house in front of him. It was large. She was living the life. He got off his bike nervously, and ripped his helmet off. Then he began to search for cigarettes in his pockets. Bingo. He pulled it out and lit it, letting it relax the muscles in his body. Not that it really helped. He was just wishful. He began pacing nervously. Yeah, Luke would do anything for her, but what if she didn’t want him? His natural answer would be to re-enlist. But he already knew he couldn’t do that. Not after everything that happened. He put out the cigarette, hoping Kaci wouldn’t smell it. It had been a new habit he developed while he was in the army, and he didn’t think she would appreciate him of all people doing it. He flicked it into the neighbor’s yard then walked up to the door, and knocked on it, already fearing the worst.
